Calipers are a simple, time-tested measuring tool that has been used by masons, blacksmiths, and carpenters for centuries to measure inside dimensions. Like the tools of old, these dividers keep your measurement with the friction kept between them by the rivet. If ever they are to loosen, simply give the rivet a few taps with a hammer until it is as tight as you require.
